Globally, an estimated 264 million people suffer from depression, one of the leading causes of disability, with many of these people also suffering from symptoms of anxiety. A recent WHO-led study estimates that depression and anxiety disorders cost the global economy US$ 1 trillion each year in lost productivity. At large we wanted to make sure that all organizations from Faith Based Communities, Schools and the Communities at large remained on the cutting edge of getting treatment, therapy, and other resources available to them that will enable them to continue to thrive and maintain a certain level of health and wellness.

"Perhaps one of the most rewarding parts of working with Dr. Long and MHIC is the residual impact I have seen this movement make. As an Advisor and supporter, I can say that the need for this topic within the church is solidified with each conference.
Spirituality has been at the forefront for years in the faith-based community, but coupling that with the physiological wellness of people places MHIC in a league of its own.
Dr. Long's exuberant personality along with her expertise have made a socially mundane topic one that commands the attention of all that will listen for just a moment. If she talks, you're hooked. I am so grateful to be a part of something that I know will change the world!"

"I just attended my first Mental Health in the Church Conference hosted by Dr. Lakita D. Long in Berkeley, CA.

I was amazed and saddened at the testimonies I heard of people from all facets of life wanting to take their lives because they were tired of the voices, tired of being fake, thinking know one cares or to embarrassed to say anything because they hold a title or position in the church.
This was truly an eye opener for me in so many ways. I hope and pray more churches will open their doors and their hearts to see how we can reach those who are broken inside.

Thank you Dr. Lakita for your sensitivity and confidence in the Holy Spirit, your encouragement and boldness to empower the believers and that you are not ashamed of the pure unadulterated word of God. You are truly called to take this to the nations. You are a "Market Place Evangelist" in the church today."
